SDA HS J-D FBLA State Leadership Conference

Megan Wallman was elected FBLA State Secretary and six Syracuse FBLA members qualified for Nationals at the annual FBLA State Leadership Conference held in Omaha on April 4-6. Meredith Clark placed in the top two in three events, winning the Job Interview event which she will compete in at the National Leadership Conference. She placed second in Website Design and Computer Applications.

Also qualifying for the FBLA National Leadership Conference to be held in San Antonio, Texas, June 28-July 3 were Tyler Knake who placed first and Kendall Meyer placing second in Database Design and Applications, Ben Nannen who placed second in Electronic Career Portfolio and the Graphic Design team of Jennifer Daharsh, Genevieve Bennett, and Kendall Meyer which placed fourth.

Placing fifth were Ben Nannen in Job Interview and the Mobile Application Development team of Megan Wallman and Lauren Meyer. Emily Baier placed sixth in Accounting II. Placing seventh were Brooklyn Nordhues in Sales Presentation and the Business Financial Plan team of Grant Orchard, Nicole Stubbendick and Emily Baier. Receiving eighth place were Jackson Zastera placed in Computer Applications; Ellie Wilkinson in Introduction to Financial Math; the Introduction to Business Presentation team of Teja Farley, Madison Kreifels and Lindsey Moss; and the Community Service Project team of Jennifer Daharsh, Taylor Mead and Megan Wallman.  Receiving honorable mentions, which means they placed in the top four percent, were: Jackson Zastera and Tyler Knake, Network Design; Taylor Mead, Accounting and Journalism; Grant Orchard, Accounting II; Ellie Wilkinson, Introduction to Business; Burk Farley, Introduction to Business Procedures; Teja Farley, Introduction to FBLA; Kendall Meyer, Spreadsheet Applications; Brooklyn Nordhues, Job Interview; and Meredith Clark, Future Business Leader. The chapter received the Sweepstakes Award and the Gold Seal Award of Merit. Chapter members were also recognized for donating money to the March of Dimes and Nebraska FBLA Foundation and participating in Feed Nebraska, Connect with Business, iGive, StepUp2Tech, and Go Green projects.

 

Syracuse business teacher Jean Ann Watermeier received the Star Volunteer Award for her support of the chapter and her help in preparing students for events and the proctoring of SLC tests.

Meredith Clark was recognized for Who’s Who in Nebraska FBLA, Brooklyn Nordhues for the Community Service Award and Megan Wallman for the Future Level of the Business Achievement Awards. Members receiving the All-State Quality Member Award were Ben Nannen, Meredith Clark, Brooklyn Nordhues, Lauren Meyer, Grant Orchard, Megan Wallman, Taylor Mead, and Genevieve Bennett.

Other members competing were Dominick Lange, Jada Cash, Mia Ortiz, Halle Wilhelm, Cassidy Roberts, Klayre Roberts, and Kayden DeGolyer. Susan Wellman is the adviser. They were among over 2,300 students registered for the conference. In many events, students were competing against 400-500 FBLA members from across the state. When not taking tests or campaigning, members attended a variety of seminars and general sessions. Holly Hoffman, from Season 21 of “Survivor Nicaragua” was the featured keynote speaker.
